Great question—especially if you’re hosting a big communal potluck. For most of our standard urban outdoor furniture tables, the maximum recommended load is 250–300 lbs (113–136 kg), evenly distributed. Our larger rectangular communal dining tables are generally tested to 400 lbs (181 kg), and a few reinforced models can handle slightly more. The exact limit depends on the frame, top material, leg design, and model, so the product spec sheet is always the final word.
For potluck use, think “spread out,” not “stacked up.” A 300-lb even load is very different from 80 lbs of cast-iron casseroles concentrated on one corner. Keep heavy dishes toward the center or directly over the legs, use trivets for hot pots, and don’t sit or stand on the table. If your table has a glass top, follow the lower limit listed for that model. If you tell me which table you have, I can give you the exact maximum weight capacity.
