Finally, compliance documentation must include third-party engineering sign-off, load test certificates, and installation inspection reports. Designers should always consult local code authority having jurisdiction, as stricter state and city amendments apply—such as New York City’s Building Code, which mandates 48-inch railings for any elevated outdoor seating area exceeding 6 feet above grade.
