Sun drying is highly effective, as UV rays kill mold and bacteria. Place cushions upright in the sun, flipping occasionally for even drying. Ensure they are completely dry before storage or use. For persistent odors, sprinkle baking soda directly on the dry cushion, let it sit for several hours, then vacuum it off. To prevent future musty smells, always store cushions perfectly dry in a cool, ventilated area.
