For added stability, use weights. Fill planters or decorative pots with sand or gravel and place them on or under furniture frames. Specially designed furniture sandbags or ankle weights can be discreetly attached to chair and table legs. For a more permanent solution, use anchors. For hard surfaces like balconies, use weighted umbrella bases to secure table center posts or opt for furniture with built-in ground anchors. On grass or soil, spiral stakes or earth anchors fastened with straps or bungee cords to furniture legs are highly effective. Choosing furniture with a lower center of gravity and wider bases also inherently improves stability. Regularly check and tighten all connections, and during severe storms, the safest practice is to temporarily move lightweight pieces indoors or to a protected storage area.
