To ensure your outdoor furniture cushions survive the winter in perfect condition, proper storage is essential. The best method involves a few key steps. First, always clean the cushions according to the manufacturer's instructions, typically with a mild soap solution, to remove dirt, pollen, and mildew spores. This is crucial as leftover grime can set in and cause stains or deterioration. Second, and most importantly, allow the cushions to dry completely. Any trapped moisture will lead to mold and mildew growth during storage. Air dry them in the sun for a full day or two, flipping them periodically. Never store cushions while damp. Once clean and bone-dry, choose a storage location. The ideal spot is a cool, dry, and dark indoor space like a garage, basement, or closet.
