The short answer is: it's risky and likely unstable. Placing outdoor furniture directly on uneven flagstones is generally not recommended for long-term use. The uneven surface creates wobbling, which can lead to premature wear on the furniture joints, potential damage to the flagstones, and most importantly, a safety hazard. Chairs or tables that rock can easily tip, especially when leaned on or with items placed on them. For optimal stability, safety, and to protect your furniture investment, leveling the ground beneath the flagstones or using adjustable furniture pads/shims designed for outdoor use is highly advised. You can temporarily use sturdy shims under the furniture legs to compensate for minor irregularities, but for a permanent solution, addressing the underlying unevenness is best.
We have uneven flagstones, will this outdoor furniture be stable or do we need to level the ground?
